Remuneration & How We Are Paid
Our remuneration is not our profit. It is our revenue from which we discharge all company affairs, pay salaries, taxes, and attend to all services on your behalf.
We earn our remuneration for discharge of our services to You, and acting on your instructions. Our remuneration is earned in a number of ways:-
Commission |
Remunerated to us by insurers when you pay the premium and the insurer(s) receipt’s your premium payment from us.
Unless agreed otherwise, We will be remunerated by commission paid by the insurer when You enter into an insurance contract that We arrange (this includes renewals and variations). The rates of commission may vary between Insurers. |
Broker Administration Charge |
Remunerated to us by you where we are not remunerated by insurers. We may also charge You an Administration fee over and above the Premium which is included in the invoice charges to you.
We may charge you an administration fee when the work done by us on your behalf does not result in our ability to earn commission. |
Investment Income |
Our remuneration may include investment income earned from premium payments before they are forwarded to the insurer. This is permitted by the Insurance Intermediaries Act 1994. |
Premium Funding |
If We arrange a loan or finance contract for You to pay the premium, We may earn commission or dividends for doing so. |
Referral Business |
We sometimes pay a fee to a party who has referred You to Us. We pay this fee out of the commission received from insurers and fees You pay Us. Likewise, we may earn a fee if we have referred You to another party that performs work for You. |
Additional Income |
We are a member of Brokernet NZ Ltd which provides management and buying services to Us. Brokernet NZ Ltd has arrangements with some insurers which entitles it to receive commission for each policy We arrange with those Insurers.
Insurers may pay remuneration to Brokernet NZ Ltd based primarily on the volume of business placed with them by Brokernet members. Your premiums may form part of this business. This remuneration is paid to Brokernet NZ Ltd from whom we earn dividends.. |
Soft Dollar |
We also receive non-financial benefits from insurers including training grants, non-monetary benefits such as conference fees, equipment, social functions, and other gifts and gratuities. |
