DIRECTORS

Wayne D Wiffen • ANZIIF (Snr Assc), FIBANZ, QPIB

Wayne has 18 years experience in insurance broking and risk management. Wayne's background is a from a large multi-national international broker, and Operations Manager of a large indigenous broker. Wayne specialises in corporate account management with a "can do" approach. Wayne maintains professional working relationships with industry leaders at the highest level, both clients and insurers, and maintains key global contacts with European and Australian markets.

Wayne is a Senior Associate of the Australia New Zealand Insurance & Finance Institute (ANZIIF Snr Assc) and Qualified Practising Insurance Brokers (QPIB) by qualification, and has Fellowship status (FIBANZ) as awarded the Insurance Brokers Association of NZ [IBANZ], and holds the Nelson Marlborough Chairmanship for Insurance Brokers Association of NZ. Wayne has primary responsibility for a large number of the Company's major clients and the Company's largest insurance underwriter facilities.

Wayne summarily acts as the Company's Privacy Officer, Complaints, Disputes & Conflicts Officer in terms of the company's operating license.

Wayne has no previous criminal convictions, has never been adjudged bankrupt, nor ever been expelled as a Director, or from an industry body membership nor prevented from owning or operating a broking business. Wayne is married, with a family of 2 children.

Director

Tony Rowe

Tony has 29 years in the insurance industry.  Tony’s expertise evolved though working with International brokers in New Zealand and abroad, and latterly ownership of the prestigious Trafalgar Insurance and Marlborough Insurance brands.  Tony has overall responsibility for the insurance & risk affairs of the Company. 

Tony is an Associate of the Insurance Institute of New Zealand (AIINZ) and Qualified Practising Insurance Brokers (QPIB) by qualification, and has achieved Fellowship status (FIBANZ) as awarded by the Insurance Brokers Association of NZ

Tony has no previous criminal convictions, has never been adjudged bankrupt, nor ever been expelled as a Director, or from an industry body membership nor prevented from owning or operating a broking business

Tony is married with a grown family.

Kenn Butler

Kenn has been in the insurance industry for 32 years, predominantly with NZI being in senior management positions for the last 18 years. Since January 2005 he has been running his own insurance and business consultancy practice, the latter primarily in the executive and leasing and coaching areas. Kenn holds professional memberships to the Institute of Directors, the NZ Institute of Management and am the immediate past president of the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce having served on the board for 5 years. He has extensive experience as a business and youth mentor with both Business in the Community and Youth Enterprise Schemes.

Dennis Robins

Dennis has been in the Insurance business for over 30 years, including 5 years overseas experience in the Pacific Islands and Australia. He has qualified as a Senior Associate of the ANZIIF and is a current Qualified practising Insurance Broker (QPIB). Having worked for International Broking companies in the past Dennis appreciates that local and personal service combined with detailed knowledge of Products and the insurance market produce the best results for clients.

With the support of the strong National network of the Brokernet Group, Dennis believes he can offer a service to customers second to none.

The lifestyle opportunities offered in the Marlborough region were a strong attraction for Dennis who has long held ambitions to own a boat and find good weather to make best use of it.

Broker Consultant

John Thatcher

John has over 20 years experience in the insurance industry in both Fire & General underwriting and as a senior commercial broker.  Along with his direct insurance industry experience, John has had many years experience in managing his own business’ and brings with him a great deal of commercial and financial acumen. 
 
Now based in Blenheim but having spent many years living in Wellington, John looks after a number of key company accounts in both the Marlborough and Wellington regions. With an ongoing commitment to further developing our client base in both these areas, John is a regular commuter between the regions. 

John is a current Executive Council Member of the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce and his previous business and industry experience has shown him the value of a strong ‘customer service’ focus.  Over the years John has built up a strong, loyal client base encompassing a wide range of commercial industry.

SERVICING BROKER

Tracey

After an earlier stint in the Air Force and then taking on the challenges of full time parenthood for her two boys, Tracey joined Marlborough Insurance Brokers in 2007 looking to build a career in the industry.
Two years of commitment and study has reaped rewards for Tracey who has now passed the five exams required to gain her ‘Diploma in Financial Services’ and is set to progress further with her study in the years ahead.
Tracey works along side John in the Marlborough office providing support service for many of our larger commercial clients as well as managing a number of our local commercial and domestic clients on her own account.  In addition, Tracey administers our exclusive Pleasurecraft Insurance Facility alongside ensuring that all client claims are settled promptly and efficiently with our insurers.
Outside of the work environment Tracey enjoys time with her family and being a keen swimmer, can often be found early in the morning down at the local pool.

OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Awhina

Awhina is our most recent recruit having gained a great deal of customer service and administration experience through her previous employers.
Awhina is our front line reception and office administrator and ensures the smooth day to day running of the Marlborough Branch.  In addition, Awhina is assists our broking team with additional support service and processing for many of our domestic and commercial clients.   
On the weekends, Awhina’s competitive streak will often show itself on the netball court and she also enjoys time with her partner Eddie and their young daughter.
